So, you’d like to improve the number of leads and deals you receive? Well, you’ve come to the right place. The SAP App Center site receives hundreds of thousands of visitors who want to discover, try and buy partner products. Our most successful partners ensure their product pages follow our best practices and contain their latest content and trial/pricing offerings. Read on below to learn some of our best practices.
Here’s our top 3 recommendations— click each of the buttons below to jump to each topic within this page:
1. Add a Free Trial Offering
If you’re able to offer a free trial product to customers to allow them to test out your product before they buy, the App Center offers a mechanism for you to process free trial requests without integration to our platform.
Step 1: Ensure your product is set up as transact-ready. As you edit your product, check to see if an “Integration section shows. If it does, this means you’ll be able to set up a free trial. If it doesn’t contact our support team.
Step 2: Add a new free trial pricing edition:
The majority of our partners who offer a free trial do so with one that lasts for 30 days. On the App Center, free trials do not automatically convert into paid subscriptions.
When you first open the editions tab, you’ll see the edition that you chose in the initial set up screen already created. You can edit this one and modify however you like or click ‘add new edition.’
How Do I set up my free trial?
First, you’ll need to complete the ‘edition information’ block.
Now, you’re ready to set the duration and grace period of your free trial.
In this section, you have the opportunity to specify what is included with each free trial. You should use this space to specify how many users and other units such as storage space are included. You will be required to include at least one user.
Edition Features and Benefits
You should create separate features to define what features are included so that users are able to compare editions based on the functionality they will receive by purchasing that edition.
2. Ensure Your Content Is World Class
Consult our content guidelines to ensure you are following our best practices.
Some the most impactful improvements you can make are to your:
5 word description: this text helps to entice customers to click your app when they’re browsing the App Center catalog.
SEO Description: The SEO description is what will appear in search results and on SAP.com. The maximum character limit is 130 characters.
Features: Make sure that you include several features that dive deep into product capabilities.
3. Display Pricing
We recommend adding a low-priced starter edition to allow for a small number of users to use the full functionality of your product for a longer period as a pilot, which may lead to a larger sale.
How do I set up my Low Price Starter edition?
A low-price starter edition allows your customer to purchase a small number of users with limited functionality so that they can try your product on a smaller scale before expanding their implementation.
Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Under payment plans, you should leave the free trial period and free trial grace period blank for your starter edition. If you would like to set up a free trial you should do so in the form of a separate edition. Under revenue model, you will need to specify whether your pricing will be recurring or if you will only charge the customer once.
If you choose one-time pricing as your revenue model, you’ll see the screen below.
One-time Price Per unit
For your starter edition, we recommend that you only include pricing for one tier of users.
If you would like to charge a one-time set-up fee when a customer purchases your product, you can enter the price here for all currencies enabled on the Listing Info tab.
Edition Features and benefits
Here, you should include edition features and benefits that define what is unique to this pricing plan.
Add an Enterprise Edition with hidden pricing
If you’d also like to include a pricing edition that does not show pricing and allows the customer to contact you for custom pricing, you can create an Enterprise Edition.
Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Make sure that you check the “Enable Lead Generation” box. This will ensure that a Contact Me button is shown for this pricing edition and that no pricing is shown.
Set the free trial period to zero and the revenue model to free. Note that this will not show publicly.
You must set the number of included users. You’ll be able to modify this for each sale. Add any additional information for the customer to the edition features and benefits section. You can specify here that the number of users is variable.
